Low sperm count means that the fluid semen you ejaculate during an orgasm contains fewer sperm than normal. A low sperm count is also called oligospermia ol-ih-go-SPUR-me-uh. A complete absence of sperm is called azoospermia.

There are many features of human semen that are very familiar to most people, but their importance isn't appreciated.
An abnormal sperm count may also indicate an underlying health condition. A normal sperm count ranges from 15 million sperm to more than million sperm per milliliter mL of semen. Anything less than 15 million sperm per milliliter, or 39 million sperm per ejaculate, is considered low. A low sperm count is often referred to as oligospermia.
